IT's been a long long time...

Been really busy lately...and this time round I mean it...EVERY single word of it...

Well, it doesn't mean dat I haven't been busy when I used to say I was...juz dat this time around I'm busy with things I SHOULD be busy with...rather than spend time on things that doesn't hold much worht at the end of the day...

Many people do things they like to do...but how many are actually doing things that they NEED to do? I've come to realise that one should not do what they like to do...until they have the ability to do so and has nothing else to worry about...

So, what do people of different age worry or think about?....infants: when's their next milk feeding session? toddlers: what's the next thing I can get my hands on? children: when can I go to the playground, when is my fav cartoon coming on? Teenagers: which secondary school/which boy or girl should I date/which path, JC or POLY?....Young adults: which uni/course/OCS or SISPEC/work....young working adults: what's my next career move/when will I get my pay rise/will I be promoted...25-30:when can I get married? 31-40:how am I gonna fund my children's education?...41-50:when can I retire.?....definitely there are more things that the abovementioned worry about...health and wealth are not even included!

The point is; consider about your current age and situation....are you in a comfort zone, enjoying yourself and letting every moment pass you by? or are you making best use of each and every minute to make sure that your life is a fulfilling one?...it's like why wait till THE moment then start to worry? why not think ahead?if you worry about your future cash needs, why not think of ways to achieve a certain amount you desire before you reach a situation of dire?...

It's already 3.35 in the morning...many are sleeping, while some are fighting hard for their future...success comes to those who wait, yes...but not those who wait in vain...the wait comes with perserverance....

I've been busy...with things I need to be busy with...

My frens...spend some time to think...take care...

Everyone has the potential and capability. Why not you?~

Its a thursday...already...

Into my 3rd week of work at The Ritz-Carlton and come next monday, it'll be my 21st day. They call it Day 21. Some sorta feedback session...

Last week I was at Belldesk, GRO and housekeeping. All were very interesting...I think I had the most breaks when I was at housekeeping. The auntie I was attached to give me such long breaks! Plus, she didn't want me to help her. She said,"you dun need to do anything...just watch ok?" I was like,"uh...ok...but let me do something, can?" at the end of the day I had abt 1.5hrs of break...and out of the 13 rooms we went into, I only helped make one bed. I'm not useless...she just din want me to do anything...so I did things like replenish the amenities inside the rooms....

For this week I'll be at the concierge...not easy...especially today!~ I was grilled by my Chef Concierge....Y? simply cos he was frustrated...hahhaa....but seriously, he's one of the best around...So no matter how much he grills or pressure me, I'll do my best...only by learning from the best can you become like one of the best...I want knowledge like him. After today, I feel a lil' small...but den again, after my attachment there...I know I'll gain lots of knowledge...haha...den I win liao...

Oh well, time to head for bed...

Dear Lord, I pray that You will grant me the mental and physical strength to carry out everyday's duties...and that You will continually bless me and people around me...Thank you Lord...You Jesus' most precious name I pray, AMEN~!

Today marks my 10th day at the Ritz-Carlton....

Everything's going well, I must say...I'm embracing each new day as they come...for with it brings new challenges and situations.

I started up at the club...a place deemed "attas" by some, but "classy" by others...I belong to the club, therefore I see it as a classy place. A place where every guest will be served in the classiest of manner, in a warm and relaxed, yet refined environment.

The satisfaction derived from guest interaction is indescribable...INteraction is one thing, but at the Ritz-Carlton, we aim to engage the guests. That is, to interact with feelings engaging the emotional part. Personally, this has always been what I stand for...Interactions that are engaging...not just cos I have to do it, but cos I enjoy it. I aim for relationships, not acquaintances...Therefore, I am Ritz-Carlton...

Over the last three days, I've been on cross-department training. I was attached to the belldesk and GRO. Tmr, I'll be at Housekeeping...till sunday. Exciting neh....hahaha

Monday I get a break, den next week would be mainly at the Concierge~After my stint there I should be heading to the F&B outlets...

Alright, that's all for now...Take care my friends...

Catch up soon....

A quick update...

Went for reservist last week...which was supposed to be a low-key, meaning not tough, turned out to be sooo taxing~! maybe it's just that we're no longer young and like the days when we were 19and 20yrs old...And unfortunately, my right calf got kicked by a fren during a basketball game...A min after the incident my entire calf swelled into a shape unrecognisable...putting both legs together, they looked really different. I know I'm right footed, but no one has one sides muscle like 3 times bigger than the other? Went to the medical officer and he said it was internal bleeding and there's nothing we can do except rest and let it heal on its own....

It's been about 10days and the swelling has gone down. However, there's still some pain in my calf...the pain is internal and it is those kind of acute, sharp pain...

On to other happenings....

I recently started at Ritz-Carlton, as a club concierge. Being on the 32nd floor, we get a magnificent view of the skylines...As a fulltime staff we have to go for cross training. So next week, I'll be going to Guest Services, GRO and housekeeping...Things are pretty slow moving for now...Cos I dunno wat time to report for tuesday to thursday...just hafta wait.

My creed...to be the best in all that I learn and do...in all ways ethical...

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"

Amen~

And so graduation's over...time for real reality..*oxymoron here...haha*

For kids still in school- Schools' out, fun's out!

For us who recently graduated...we can adopt that too...Whoever said the real world's boring. Come on, let's all be positive...because negativity simply saps you of every bit of energy in you. So I say, bucker up people! For yourself, the organisation and the indusstry...for a better and brighter future ahead...cheers~

A lil' update on what's happened since I left my humble abode here... Of cos, I went to Perth and spent a wonderful time there...I put up at my friend's, Jane, place the entire time with a few speckle of times at the boyz place.

Spending time with the boyz were fun...but they just wouldn't feed me. Ok, they do...but with beer, beer and more beer! Only! Each time I'm with them I know I'll forgo dinner...unwittingly. Hey, I'm not lazy. If you've been to Oz you'll understand my plight. It's not like there are kopitiams where I can jolly well walk to and buy meself some food. Haha...And boys' fridges are alwez understocked...oh well, it's cool and I had fun!

Spent Mother's Day with Jane's parents with me playing son cos Jane and her brother Scott were both at work that morning. We went to Pinneroo to visit Jane's grandaddy's grave and after that we went to Fremantle. We then headed home for dinner and I figured that I'd contribute my share. So, I prepared a dish. Stir-fried suid with bell peppers...impromptu creation...haha...we also had stir-fried veggies and chicken satay. At the end we had cakes and coffee/tea/milo...what a night...not forgetting the lovely swan valley wine I had! I also did some sightseeing...went to the Perth Mint, where I witnessed gold pouring and gold is heck of expensive! Then there was King's Park...lovely place too...Swan valley where we went to some wineries for wine tasting. At the last few stops my head began to swirl together with my wineglass...hahaha.

The last place I went to was Caversham wildlife park. There I saw all the wildlife upclose and personal. Really personal. I carried a 25kg wombat, so furry...and touched some koala and kangeroos. The lil' joeys inside the puch looked really cute. Oh, highlight of the day...My finger got chomped on by an EMU! Jane's dad said it probably wanted a taste of chinese finger food. NOT FUNNY! haha... Yeah, that pretty much summed up the good times I had...of cos, I omitted some parts of the trip like my clubbing, watching aussies whack each other up in a boxing match and a match of footy at a stadium packed with 43000 spectators....hahaha...see, I ended up writing these down...

Fast forward to this month, there was my BIRTHDAY celebration and of cos graduation.

This has to be the year with the most extended celebrations. It began on wednesday, had lunch
at Hai Tien Lo, Pan Pacific. It was a birthday treat from my Godma. So nice...the bill was...*ahem* 3 figure sum...

On friday, a dinner gathering with my primary school friends. There were six of us and we went to AZABU SABO at Marina square...Eating there was a real sabo...You guys and gals know Stewart is seldom picky or critical about things. BUT, when I do something is really wrong...

Three of us arrived first and decided to take a seat at our table, while waiting for the rest to come. Being a Japanese restaurant, we were served green tea. Imagine how a table of six would be seated with three tables. Rite, you got it: two at each table. so My fren and I occupied the centre table and another fren sat to my right. This was how our tea and wet towels (those nicely packed ones) were served: the server, a girl about 1.56m, approached our table to my left. She served the tea and put the first cup down, that barely reached my female friend. Then the next cup was down and that too almost reached a comfortable position. Now, the last cup is for my fren on my rite...Expecting her to move to the right of the table, she did otherwise...from the same position she attempted to reach over to my fren, crossing rite infront of me. If she landed the cup at my fren's table, maybe it would be fine. HOWEVER...it didn't even get past my centre-line...

After that she simply flung the wet towels on the table. Well, that was the initial service we got. Throughout the meal I observed them. Disappointing...no saving grace...at all. I shan't mention how our order was taken and how our food was served. NOt impressive. I can't help but feel it was a SABOtage by my fren, asking us to dine there...

After dinner, we walked around to look for a cake. My fren Philip just wanted to buy me a cake...We finally bought one from NYDC, the Goldmine, which cost him S$61...my most expensive cake ever...Thanks, Philip...so much for having not seen each other for 12 yrs...

Then off to MOS...met up with the boys (Joseph, Jeremy, Brian and Ron) and the gang (Nats, Kex, Grace, Angie, Mel and Sharon). PArtied the nite away...MOS is not a bad place after all...

On Monday, it was dinner with the boys. After cracking their heads, they finally decided to just walk down the street. We walked to Singapore Arts Musuem and settled at the Italian restaurant. Zhen Qiang brought a 1995, Chateau Phelan Segur, a red wine...Which according to Mr Tan Hsien Wei is an expensive wine...

That was one helluva dining experience...and here's why...

We went into the restaurant and approached the waitress to find out about corkage charge. Jeremy and Joseph asked her and she stared at them blankly. Jeremy repeated and once again she looked blank, before showing us the wine rack and saying,"yes, we serve wine here.." Umm...what's the link? The chefs standing behind the counter obviously heard us and shouted, "yeah, corkage at S$10". Finally, an answer.

We then sat at a table and the menu was brought to us. A4 size paper and plastic folder...is that a project or something?...Then the glassware was served. Once again, it might have been occupational habit but hey, would you drink from a chipped or dirty glassware? I raised my glass to take a brief look. *Gasp* lipstick mark...the glassware was obviously not wiped. We requested for a change. They did and the next set was better...nicely wiped.

After a long time, we decided to ask the server to help us with the wine. We called for her attention and asked her to uncork the wine. She duly brought the wine into the back area...while we were chatting and laughing away, another server brought out a wine stand. My brow was raised. We all looked at each other, worried...after that we saw the server come out with a bucket in hand. There was condensation on the outside of the bucket..and probably on our foreheads too...she chilled our RED wine!? As soon as she left our table we fished the bottle out of the bucket.

The food we had, starters like soup and salad and pasta, were average...but we enjoyed our pizzas though. Well, it was quite an interesting night. Joseph was busy with the mozzies, trying to kill'em all. I must say all the training at Zouk has served him well. His clap claps and all killed the mozzies swiftly. finally, something good about clubbing at Zouk on Mambo nites...hahahahhaa...

That sums up my birthday celebrations... On a side note, maybe there's some conspiracy behind my bad dining experiences?...at Azabu there were 6 of us and we met at 6 pm, having dinner gathering in June(yet another 6...) Then at the italian restaurant it was the same winning combi. Weird or coincidental?...somebody crack DA Code... Peace out...

A quick update on the happenings in my life...

I got a haircut(proudly done by my mum again...lil' mohawk hairdo) on sAt morning and went to work the same afternoon.
